James Wade and Michael Smith both set new Guinness world records ahead of last month’s Champions League of Darts in Cardiff. The eight participants in the inaugural staging of this event, which was broadcast live on the BBC, all took part in a series of challenges, with Wade and Smith excelling.
Wade is now the proud owner of a Guinness World Record for the most inner and outer bullseyes hit in one minute. The previous record was twelve, although Wade trumped that in fine style, hitting fifteen inner and outer bullseyes in just 60 seconds, with an independent adjudicator watching on to confirm the legitimacy of the attempt.
However, Michael Smith set a new world record for the highest total score recorded in one minute. The previous record was 550, but two-time world champion Adrian Lewis bettered that with a magnificent attempt of 559. Nevertheless, Lewis was the record holder for only a matter of moments, as Smith produced a stunning score of 581.
