Gerwyn Price, Daryl Gurney and Max Hopp will make their World Series of Darts debuts in 2017, after the fields for the opening three events of the global tour in Dubai, Shanghai and Las Vegas have been confirmed.

The World Series of Darts, which was introduced in 2013, sees a series of top players compete in tournaments worldwide throughout the year ahead of the season-ending World Series of Darts Finals, which takes place at Glasgow’s Braehead Arena in November.

The fifth staging of the Dubai Duty Free Darts Masters in the unique open-air setting is the opening event of the worldwide tour. It will feature defending champion Gary Anderson and Michael van Gerwen- who won the first three stagings of this tournament.

Peter Wright, Phil Taylor and Raymond van Barneveld- all of whom are former Dubai Darts Masters finalists, will be joined by eight-time major winner James Wade, four-time major finalist Dave Chisnall and Welsh debutant Price in Dubai.

Price’s remarkable darting rise continues, as he prepares to make his World Series debut in May. The former Rugby League star only joined the PDC circuit three years ago after gaining a PDC Tour Card at the 2014 Q-School, and he reached his first televised final in Sunday’s UK Open, losing out 11-6 to Peter Wright.

The Shanghai Darts Masters will see the top eight in world darts come up against eight regional representatives. Two-time world champion Adrian Lewis will make his first World Series appearance of the year on Chinese soil, where he’ll compete alongside Van Gerwen, Anderson, Wright, Taylor, Wade, Van Barneveld & Chisnall.

The third World Series competition of the year will see darts return to Las Vegas for the first time since 2009, when Phil Taylor defeated Raymond van Barneveld in the eighth and final staging of the Las Vegas Desert Classic.

The North American Championship, which takes place on July 13th, will be followed by the inaugural PDC U.S. Masters which takes place at the Tropicana Hotel Casino Resort. Taylor and Van Barneveld will both return to American soil, whilst the world’s top four players- Van Gerwen, Anderson, Wright & Lewis will also be present.

Nevertheless, the inaugural U.S Masters will also see the introduction of a further two World Series debutants. UK Open semi-finalist Daryl Gurney will make his debut alongside Germany’s former World-Youth champion Max Hopp, and these eight players will take on eight North American qualifiers in the 16-player event.

PDC Chairman Barry Hearn said: “It was our intention to inject fresh blood into the World Series of Darts this year, and this is a fantastic opportunity for Gerwyn, Daryl and Max to showcase their talents on a global stage.

“We’re trying to grow professional darts worldwide through the World Series, but we also want to increase the opportunities available for top PDC players. Gerwyn performed brilliantly to reach the UK Open final on Sunday and has shown that he’s got the ability under pressure to mix it with the biggest names in darts.

“Daryl was talked about as a potential candidate for the Premier League this year following his progress, and Max has already gained incredible experience despite being just 20. This is a great chance for all three now to show that they belong amongst the biggest names in the sport like Phil Taylor, Michael van Gerwen and Gary Anderson.”

A further three World Series of Darts events will take place during August, with the field of PDC competitors for each tournament to be confirmed in due course. However, the full list of competitors for the opening trio of tournaments can be viewed below.
