2017 Perth Darts Masters Draw!

Phil Taylor will begin his assault for a third Perth Darts Masters title against recent Auckland Darts Master Kyle Anderson, whilst World-Youth champion Corey Cadby will take on five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld for the second successive World Series event.

Taylor won the first two stagings in Perth back in 2014 & 2015 and he heads into this weekend’s event on the back of victory in Melbourne last weekend- after defeating Peter Wright in a repeat of last month’s World Matchplay final.

However, the 16-time world champion faces a tough opening-round assignment against an in-form Kyle Anderson. ‘The Original’ secured his first televised title in the Auckland Darts Masters earlier this month, having won his first PDC ranking title at a Players Championship event just a matter of days earlier.

Taylor admitted: “It will be tough against Kyle because his confidence is up at the moment and he’s a really good player. I’ve loved it in Perth before and it will be great again this week. I’m looking forward to it and it’s lovely in Perth, probably my favourite place in Australia so far.”

The Australian is also relishing the showdown, adding: “I’ve said before that if I get how I play on the floor onto TV then I can get to the end of the events and that’s shown in the last couple of weeks. I’m playing well and I’m looking forward to seeing my family, playing in front of friends and hearing that roar again like I have for the last four years.”

Elsewhere, another tasty first-round tussle sees World-Youth champion Corey Cadby play five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld in a repeat of their first ever meeting at last weekend’s Melbourne Darts Masters, where ‘The King’ ran out a 6-4 winner.

Top seed Gary Anderson will play the experienced Kiwi Rob Szabo, whilst Anderson’s compatriot Peter Wright locks horns with Rhys Mathewson, with the world number three still searching for his maiden World Series triumph.

Elsewhere, fourth seed and former Perth finalist James Wade meets debutant Darren Hayes, who is making his first televised appearance after progressing through the local qualifiers to clinch his spot in the event.

Home favourite Simon Whitlock will play Justin Thompson, former World-Youth champion Michael Smith prepares to take on local hero Adam Rowe, whilst recent U.S Masters finalist Daryl Gurney faces a tie against former World Championship representative Koka Kokiri.
