Premier League Goes Double Dutch!

The Unibet Premier League will go Double Dutch later this year, as the Rotterdam Ahoy prepares to host an additional night of Premier League action on Wednesday 18th April, following last week’s cancellation of night five.

The season’s fifth league night was due to take place at Exeter’s Westpoint Arena, but it had to be cancelled as a result of horrendous weather conditions throughout the UK caused by Storm Emma.

The planned Night Five fixtures have been rescheduled to Night Ten in Liverpool, which now becomes Judgement Night, as the bottom two players after the action at the Echo Arena are eliminated from the competition.

Nevertheless, in order to restore a sixth league night following Judgement Night, ahead of the play-offs in May, Rotterdam Ahoy will now host a double-header in April, to the delight of Dutch darts fans.

Rotterdam were due to host Night Twelve on April 19th, but that evening will be preceded by an extra five fixtures taking place on Wednesday April 18th. However, fixtures for the respective league nights in Rotterdam will be confirmed following Judgement Night.

PDC Chairman Barry Hearn said: “It was hugely disappointing that last week’s planned Unibet Premier League in Exeter had to be cancelled.

“We looked at various options, alongside our host broadcast partners Sky Sports, which would see the Unibet Premier League remain a 16-night season, and it’s great that we’ve been able to add a second night at Rotterdam Ahoy.

“Tickets in Rotterdam have been incredibly popular since we first took the Premier League to the Netherlands in 2016, and this is another great chance for Dutch fans to see the world’s best players live.”
