In our fifth episode of the Josh’s Dartistry Podcast, Josh Gorton is joined by co-hosts Jon Dean and Neil Conner to discuss all the latest news from the world of darts. After a brief hiatus, the team return to discuss the recent World Matchplay, where Gary Anderson defeated Mensur Suljovic in a gripping finale to secure the coveted triple-crown.
Josh is joined for an exclusive interview with Sky Sports commentator Wayne Mardle, who gives his expert analysis on a dramatic nine days at the Winter Gardens. Wayne is full of praise for Jeffrey de Zwaan in particular, who took Blackpool by storm to defeat Michael van Gerwen, Adrian Lewis and Dave Chisnall to reach the semi-finals on debut.
‘Hawaii-501’ also looks ahead to September’s World Grand Prix- the next big ranking major on the PDC calendar. Mardle believes that like the Matchplay- it will be a tried and tested star that prevails in Dublin, but he’s hoping for big things from James Wade and Adrian Lewis in the second half of the season.
The boys then reflect on the recent Auckland Darts Masters, where Michael van Gerwen returned to winning ways with comprehensive wins over Gary Anderson, Peter Wright and Raymond van Barneveld. We also look ahead to the other World Series events on the horizon in Australia, with Brisbane the next destination for the darting elite.
We also have the second instalment of our newest feature called ‘Lord of The Board’, which is essentially a round-the-clock challenge. You have 30 darts to hit all 20 big numbers, as well as the outer bull and bullseye.
As a result, the minimum amount of darts that can be used to complete the challenge is 22. Listeners are encouraged to attempt ‘Lord of The Board’ and send in their attempts, and guest of the show Jordan is the second person to take on the challenge, after Jon’s attempt in the previous episode.
Jon and Neil test Josh’s knowledge of darting nicknames in the return of ‘Challenge Josh’, whilst we look at some of the more interesting darting stories to have appeared in the mainstream media over the last month. We also answer a number of questions sent in by listeners, in a Q/A section which concludes the fifth episode.
