In our ninth episode of the Josh’s Dartistry Podcast, Josh Gorton is joined by co-host Jon Dean and the returning Neil Conner for our preview show ahead of the William Hill World Darts Championship.
There’s plenty to discuss with all roads leading to the World Darts Championship, which gets underway at the iconic Alexandra Palace on Thursday night.
However, we begin by reflecting on the Players Championship Finals in Minehead, where Daryl Gurney defeated Michael van Gerwen 11-9 in a pulsating final to clinch his second PDC major title last month.
We also have an exclusive interview with ITV4 Darts presenter Jacqui Oatley, who discusses her love of the sport, the growth of darts worldwide and the emerging presence of female broadcasters within sport.
Jacqui also expresses her delight at the groundbreaking move which sees two women competing in this year’s PDC World Championship, before she offers her tips for this year’s tournament at the Ally Pally.
The team then look ahead to the World Championship and highlight some of the most eye-catching ties, including a potential showdown between defending champion Rob Cross and World Matchplay semi-finalist Jeffrey de Zwaan in round-two.
Neil provides us with all the odds ahead of the upcoming tournaments, before the team give their predictions for the PDC World Championship, and both the men’s and women’s events at the Lakeside World Championship.
We also have the latest instalment of our newest feature called ‘Lord of The Board’, before Neil tests Josh’s knowledge in another entertaining episode of ‘Challenge Josh’.
The JDP panel then reflect on some of the more interesting darting stories to have appeared in the mainstream media over recent weeks, including an injury-scare for World Masters champion Adam Smith-Neale, before the ninth episode concludes with our traditional Q&A section.
