Josh’s Dartistry Darts Podcast – Episode 11!

In our eleventh episode of the Josh’s Dartistry Podcast, Josh Gorton is joined by co-hosts Jon Dean and Neil Conner as we reflect on a busy January in the world of darts.

There’s plenty to discuss following victories for Glen Durrant, Mikuru Suzuki and 13-year-old sensation Leighton Bennett at the recent BDO World Championship, with Durrant clinching a third successive Lakeside crown and Suzuki capping off a stunning debut by becoming the first Asian player to lift a World Championship title.

We reflect on the European and UK Qualifying Schools which took place in Hildesheim and Wigan respectively last month, with Durrant among the 30 players to secure two-year PDC Tour Cards.

We also have an exclusive interview with PDC and ITV commentator Dan Dawson, who discusses a range of topics including a potential changing of the guard in darts, and the importance of the European Tour in giving young prospects the platform to succeed on darts’ biggest stages.

Dan then previews the start of the 2019 Premier League which begins in Newcastle this week, and gives his verdict on Gerwyn Price’s £21,500 fine and suspended three-month ban – discussing the possible implications of that controversial DRA ruling.

Neil provides us with all the odds ahead of the Premier League, with Michael van Gerwen a big favourite to clinch his fourth consecutive title at the O2, before the team test Josh’s knowledge of the Masters in another entertaining episode of ‘Challenge Josh’.

The JDP panel then analyse some of the more interesting darting stories to have appeared in the mainstream media over recent weeks, including Paul Lim’s stunning opening weekend of success on the PDC Asian Tour.

The team reflect on the PDC Annual Awards dinner, with Van Gerwen, Gary Anderson, Michael Smith, Daryl Gurney, Max Hopp, Luke Humphries and Rod Harrington among the names to be recognised.

We also discuss our new JDP Last Man Standing competition that we’re introducing ahead of this year’s Premier League, before the eleventh episode concludes with our regular Q&A section.
