Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld impressed as the Kings of Darts exhibition tour continued in the Netherlands on Sunday evening.
The opening event in Den Bosch on Friday saw Van Gerwen recover from 6-2 down to defeat Grand Slam champion Gerwyn Price – reeling off six consecutive legs to oust the Welshman. Meanwhile, Van Barneveld saw off Wayne Mardle 6-1 to make a winning start on home soil.
There was another star-studded field present in Enschede, as MvG and RvB maintained their winning records. ‘The Green Machine’ took on Price for the second consecutive event and ran out an emphatic 8-1 winner, landing a 135 checkout and missing double 12 for a nine-darter in the closing stages.
Meanwhile, Van Barneveld secured a brace of victories on home turf, defeating Fallon Sherrock and Tony O’Shea respectively. The five-time world champion averaged 102 in a 5-0 whitewash of Sherrock, before easing past three-time BDO world finalist O’Shea 6-1.
However, Sherrock – who created history by becoming the first woman to win a match at the PDC World Championship last month, enjoyed a fine start to this year’s roadshow on Friday, defeating former BDO World Trophy winner Darryl Fitton 5-3 with a fine display.
Elsewhere, Vincent van der Voort delighted the home crowd with a 5-3 win over Premier League star Daryl Gurney, whilst the evening kicked off with Fitton defeating former world No 1 Colin Lloyd. The final event of the exhibition roadshow takes place in Groningen on Tuesday night.
