Former BDO world champion Andy Fordham is currently in hospital undergoing tests on a possible abdominal infection, revealed his wife on social media.
Fordham’s wife Jenny took to Facebook on February 24 to confirm that her husband was undergoing tests on a possible abdominal infection and on Tuesday, she provided a further update on his condition, revealing that he was waiting for an X-Ray to see if the blockage had been removed.
The 58-year-old is one of the most popular figures on the circuit and he famously secured World Championship glory at the Lakeside in 2004, defeating Mervyn King in the final, having dumped out five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld in the semi-finals.
Fordham’s big stage participation has dwindled due to his health issues, although his last major televised appearance saw him feature in the 2016 Grand Slam of Darts. ‘The Viking’ bowed out in the group stages despite beating Wayne Jones, after losing out to Adrian Lewis and Michael Smith.
Fordham’s wife Jenny stated that her husband remains in hospital and they are hopeful they will have further information on his condition on Thursday. We wish Andy all the best for a speedy recovery.
