The Unibet Premier League night at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle scheduled for this Thursday has been postponed and will be rescheduled for Thursday October 1, the PDC have confirmed.
The sporting world has ground to a halt as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, although Darts had not been as impacted over the last week, with Night Six of the Premier League in Liverpool and the Players Championship double-header in Barnsley taking place as planned.
Nevertheless, the decision to postpone Thursday’s event in Newcastle has been taken following the UK Government’s advice regarding “non-essential social contact” plus the decision to remove emergency service support for mass gatherings.
Thursday’s roadshow in Newcastle becomes the third Premier League night of the 2020 campaign to be postponed, following last week’s announcement that the Rotterdam double-header had been postponed and would instead host Finals Night in September.
Nevertheless, the latest announcement will inevitably curtail those plans and it appears inevitable that further Premier League evenings and Pro Tour events will be affected as a result of the UK’s rigorous restrictions implemented in a bid to quell the pandemic.
