Phil Taylor will make a competitive return to darting action when he features in Modus’ A Night at the Darts’ on Thursday evening.
‘The Power’ recently took on his old foe Raymond van Barneveld in a soft-tip charity showdown in association with Paddy Power which raised £15,000 for the NHS, but now the 16-time world champion will make his steel-tip return.
Modus launched ‘The Icons’ of Darts two weeks ago, with five-time world van Barneveld, former BDO world champion Mark Webster and 2010 Players Championship Finals winner Paul Nicholson among the original six participants in the live-streamed event.
All players take part from their respective homes in a bid to provide entertainment for darts fans during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and last week, Modus introduced ‘A Night at the Darts’ to supplement the Icons of Darts which takes place earlier in the day.
Taylor will feature in five matches on Thursday night, over a best of seven legs format. He will kick off his campaign against 2015 BDO world champion Scott Mitchell at 5:30pm, before locking horns with three-time world champion Martin Adams later in the evening.
The 59-year-old will also take on last week’s winner Wessel Nijman – an emerging name on the Development Tour, Russian World Cup captain Boris Koltsov and Challenge Tour star Jason Askew – who won last week’s Icons of Darts.
Nevertheless, because the other participants have been competing in the round-robin tournament since the start of the week, Taylor’s results will not count towards the league table.
The action will be available to view across various bookmakers’ websites and the entire day’s darts is streamed exclusively on https://dartshop.tv/.
