Fallon Sherrock sealed her fourth consecutive victory over three-time world champion Martin Adams as the third week of Modus’ online league ‘A Night At The Darts’ drew to a close on Saturday evening.
‘The Queen of the Palace’ made a cameo appearance on the final day of last week’s tournament and subsequently featured on a permanent basis in this week’s showpiece, winning nine of her 20 matches and finishing the overall league phase in fourth position.
Sherrock was joined in the six-player field by ever-presents David Evans and Wessel Nijman, as well as Adams and debutants Kyle McKinstry and Mike Warburton. She began tonight’s action in third spot, only to be leapfrogged by McKinstry who ended his campaign on a high.
Sherrock was elevated to global stardom following her history-making exploits at Alexandra Palace in December and she’s since featured in the Premier League as a challenger and qualified for last month’s UK Open after coming through a 200-player field in Wolverhampton.
This competition gave her further opportunities to showcase her credentials and she performed with aplomb throughout, finishing above Adams and World Masters semi-finalist Warburton, who both amassed seven victories from their respective campaigns.
Sherrock also took on 16-time world champion Phil Taylor on Friday as ‘The Power’ made another special guest appearance and she gave the Stoke legend a major scare, producing 104 and 122 combinations only to succumb 4-3, having spurned multiple darts for a 3-0 cushion.
However, she remarkably claimed the scalp of BDO stalwart Adams on four successive occasions this week, for the loss of just eight legs. The pair locked horns for the first time on Monday night and Sherrock ran out a narrow 5-4 winner, courtesy of a majestic 11-dart break in the decider.
The 25-year-old recorded consecutive 5-1 wins over ‘Wolfie’ on Wednesday and Friday – landing 140 and 152 finishes in Friday’s rout, where she was averaging over 100 for large periods.
The darting duo collided for the fourth and final time in Week Three on Saturday and Adams was unable to stop the rot, with Sherrock averaging 95.52 and converting 56% of her attempts at double en route to a 5-2 success.
This proved to be Sherrock’s solitary triumph of the evening as she lost out to Warburton, McKinstry and Nijman, although she still finished the league phase in fourth position – having topped Friday’s table with three wins from her four tussles.
David Evans was crowned this week’s champion after winning 14 of his 20 matches. The recent BDO World Championship quarter-finalist claimed the inaugural ‘Icons of Darts’ title last month and he finished just two points above emerging Dutchman Nijman, who was denied a third straight title.
