Josh’s Dartistry Darts Podcast – The Bounce Out Episode Seven

The seventh episode of ‘The Bounce Out’ features an exclusive interview with the legendary three-time world champion Martin Adams, as Josh Gorton is joined by regular co-hosts Jon Dean and Neil Conner to discuss the latest darting news.

The sport’s competitive return is edging closer, with just seven days remaining until the PDC Summer Series gets underway. The five Players Championship events in Milton Keynes will then be followed by the prestigious World Matchplay, which could take place behind closed doors.

Josh also brings us an exclusive with BDO stalwart Adams, who reflects on his career highlights, insists he has no plans to retire and explains why he never made the permanent switch to the PDC. ‘Wolfie’ also gives his verdict on the online darts phenomenon and hopes it will be here to stay.

PDC Summer Series (14:45- 23:20) – There’s been no competitive darts since mid-March but that’s about to change with the launch of the inaugural Summer Series. We discuss what the five days will entail, with World Matchplay and Grand Slam qualification up for grabs in Milton Keynes.

World Matchplay (23:30-36:07) – The PDC confirmed last month that the World Matchplay would take place as originally scheduled from July 18-26. However, it’s yet to be determined whether it will be held behind closed doors, or with a crowd in attendance at the Winter Gardens.

The team evaluate which players could benefit from a behind closed doors event, as well as those that may be hindered by a lack of atmosphere. Josh also runs through the provisional line-up, with five events remaining until the cut-off.

What Are The Odds? (36:09-41:05) Our resident stats man Neil brings us odds ahead of the World Matchplay and also looks at the latest markets for the Premier League Darts, which is due to resume in Birmingham on July 30.

Online Darts Flourishing (42:05-46:51) – Darts has been one of the sports to embrace the ‘new normal’ courtesy of the thriving online darts concept. The Modus Live Leagues are still going strong, whilst Nathan Aspinall claimed PDC Home Tour glory last month.

Martin Adams Exclusive (47:00-56:30) – The three-time world champion opens up about the proudest moments of his career, the secret to his longevity, his reasons for remaining in the BDO and his hopes of creating yet more history.

Latest News (59:55-1:10:10) – Josh brings us an update on qualification for the World Championship, news on more success for Michael van Gerwen, worrying developments within the BDO, whilst the boys also debate the disturbing trend in social media abuse towards players.
