Josh’s Dartistry Darts Podcast – Episode 28

In our latest episode of the Josh’s Dartistry Darts Podcast, Josh Gorton is joined by regular co-hosts Jon Dean and Neil Conner to round-up the latest darting action.

Following a four-month hiatus, the boys are back to dissect a busy period in the darting world, including the World Cup of Darts, a World Series event in Copenhagen, the Gibraltar Darts Trophy and the start of the PDC Women’s Series.

Josh also caught up with ‘The Highlander’ John Henderson, who teamed up with Peter Wright to lead Scotland to World Cup glory in Hamburg – their second World Cup crown in three years.

World Cup of Darts review (11:20) – The team reflect on an intriguing World Cup in Germany, which saw seventh seeds Scotland prevail against unseeded Austria in an unlikely final. We also assess a disappointing campaign for England and Netherlands, who continue to struggle in the absence of Phil Taylor and Raymond van Barneveld.

John Henderson Interview (17:20) – The amiable Scot described his World Cup win as the ‘best night of my life’, and Hendo discusses winning his first PDC title, his pride at representing his country, and his hopes of using his success as a springboard for a revival.

September round-up: (30:18) – Josh talks us through an eventful month of darts, which saw Michael van Gerwen claim his first title of 2021 at the Nordic Masters. The Dutchman defeated Fallon Sherrock in the final, and ‘The Queen of the Palace’ was the star of the PDC Women’s Series, while Gerwyn Price completed a European Tour double in Gibraltar.

What are the odds? (46:18) – Our resident stats man Neil Conner brings us odds for this year’s World Grand Prix, as Gerwyn Price bids to defend his title in the double-start event. We also look at the latest odds for this year’s PDC World Championship, which is just over two months away.

Challenge Josh (55:33) – Challenge Josh returns as Neil tests Josh’s knowledge of all things John Henderson in a very entertaining episode!

In The News (1:24:50) – The boys reflect on the tragic passing of Kyle Anderson last month, and pay tribute to the Australian’s legacy within the sport. There’s also news regarding Simon Whitlock, after ‘The Wizard’ produced some magical darts in his local league in Portsmouth.

Q&A section (1:30:50) – The team answer a series of questions sent in by the JDP listeners. We discuss the controversy surrounding the qualifying criteria for the European Championship, and whether Rob Cross can regain the form that catapulted him to World Championship glory on debut back in 2018.
