Premier League Darts 2022 – Fixtures & Schedule confirmed

Peter Wright and Michael Smith will collide in repeat of last month’s World Championship final in Cardiff on Thursday, with each night’s opening fixtures confirmed for the 2022 Cazoo Premier League.

Following confirmation of a radical new format for this year’s Premier League, each night will now be comprised of quarter-finals, semi-finals and a final, with the eight players battling it out in a series of mini-tournaments.

This year’s showpiece begins at Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena on Thursday February 3, with the quarter-finals headlined by a clash between Wright and Smith, exactly a month after their thrilling showdown at Alexandra Palace, which ‘Snakebite’ won to clinch a second World Championship crown.

Former Premier League champions Michael van Gerwen and Gary Anderson also lock horns on what promises to be a spectacular night, as fans return to a recognised Premier League arena for the first time since March 2020.

Jonny Clayton begins his title defence against debutant Joe Cullen on his Cardiff homecoming, while world No 1 Gerwyn Price returns with a clash against 2009 Premier League winner James Wade, who replaced ‘The Iceman’ in last year’s event following Price’s positive Covid-19 test.

The quarter-final fixtures for 14 of the 16 league nights have been listed in draw bracket order, while fixtures for Night Eight and Night 16 respectively will be determined by league positions ahead of each evening.

All matches will be played over a best of 11 legs format, with a £10,000 bonus to each night’s winner, while ranking points will also be awarded from each night.

The winner will receive five points, the runner-up will be awarded three points, with two for both semi-finalists – to form the league table from which the top four players will advance to the Play-Offs.

There’s an increased £1 million prize fund on offer ahead of this year’s roadshow, although the planned night in Berlin on February 24 has been rescheduled to Monday June 13, due to ongoing coronavirus restrictions in Germany.
