Gary Anderson has been ruled out of Thursday’s Premier League Darts action in Leeds after testing positive for Covid-19.
‘The Flying Scotsman’ was scheduled to take on league leader Michael van Gerwen at the First Direct Arena, having beaten the Dutchman on the opening night in Cardiff.
However, the two-time world champion felt unwell before making the trip to Leeds, and having subsequently returned a positive test, the 51-year-old will not feature on Night Nine.
Van Gerwen is awarded a 6-0 victory under tournament rules, and the five-time Premier League winner advances to the semi-finals to play either Michael Smith or Peter Wright, who collide in a repeat of this year’s World Championship final.
Anderson is currently languishing in eighth position on seven points, despite prevailing on Night Six in Nottingham, and the Scot will return to face James Wade on Night 10 in Manchester.
