12-year-old darting sensation Beau Greaves named Young Sportsperson of the Year!

Young darting sensation Beau Greaves was named young Sportsperson of the Year at the Daily Mirror’s Pride of Sport awards earlier this week. The twelve-year-old Yorkshire schoolgirl has enjoyed an incredible 2016, winning the England Classic, The England Matchplay, the Yorkshire Classic, The Welsh Open and the European Cup.

Beau was one of two recipients of the Young Sportsperson of the Year award. Faith Price, Britain’s best young sprinter at just twelve years old also received the award, having broken a Croydon Schools Athletics record set 34 years before by Donna Fraser, who later featured in the Sydney Olympics.

Aptly nicknamed ‘Beau ‘n Arrow’, Greaves opted to take up darts at the age of 10, following in the footsteps of her older brother Taylor who himself is a promising prospect on the PDC Development Tour.

Less than four months after throwing her first set of darts, Greaves found herself competing in the Winmau World Masters U18 Youth event, where she reached the final before losing out to Robyn Byrne. Yet since then, Beau has gone from strength to strength and has now been recognised for her incredible achievements.
